How to enhance your AS/400 HTML pages using

JavaScript may become an essential component of your HTML scripts.
Through it you may solve at least two typical problems of your CGI/HTML approach:

validate user input without bothering your http server (thus gaining both in client and server performance)
make an efficient use of pop-up windows, as you were used with 5250 screens, but adding an extremly better looking.

However, looking at JavaScript from the AS/400 5250 perspective may not be the correct approach.
JavaScript is a full cross-platform object-oriented language, but not so difficult to be understood and implemented as many other.

  This is where your initial learning should start from
- Client-Side JavaScript Reference.
  This is where you'll find detail descriptions for ad hoc implementations
Sooner or later you will have to debug your JavaScripts. There are two ways you can do this:
- Test your scripts under Netscape navigator and enter javascript: in the navigator command line (Location) to display the error messages on the JavaScript console. You may as well insert some alert's in your scripts to find out the execution path
